THE BLOB AWAKENS Powered Up Part One (Update 1.2) Release:

THE BLOB AWAKENS Powered Up Part One (Update 1.2) Release:

Hello Blobbers, welcome to the third devlog and as predicted in the last devlog, there has been like two months. I must admit that this update took longer to make than I expected, even with the right tools. By the way, this update is split into two parts, the first one is the one you’re looking at, and the second one will be worked on as fast this update goes live, so you probably don’t have to wait as long. Now you might be asking “Why is the update split in two?”, simple answer, because I felt like it. But without further ado, let’s begin with changelog.

Changelog:

  • Added a new button on the end screen
    • The button in question makes you start over from the beginning, so that you don’t have to close the game and restart it.
  • Added a number in the top right corner to indicate what level you are playing.
  • Added a command console that gives you abilities and colors.(Quantum Console)
  • The gravity is now a command.
  • The player now has no mass, because the obstacles would move whenever you hit them.

And that’s it for the changelog. I know it’s not much for being away for a bit over two months, but one thing to remember is that I also have other tasks to do. You might be wondering what a Quantum Console is in the brackets, simple answer, it’s what I used to make the commands in the game. So I know that I didn’t exactly make it myself, but the asset cost like 50 dollars, and I am not wasting that kind of money on something I can’t use in my games. Plus, the Quantum Console made it so much easier for me to make commands. But then why did the update take so long to make? Well, that’s because I at first wanted to make it myself and found a tutorial, but the tutorial didn’t explain it very well, so I ended up waiting until Easter, which is the time where I usually get money to buy candy, but I had decided that I wanted to buy the Quantum Console, so I did just that.

Now, how do you use commands in the game? Simple, you open up the console with “Escape” and to type a command that I had made, the syntax is: “powered.” and after the dot, some commands should show up. For example, if you want to change your color into the original color from the first version of THE BLOB AWAKENS, the syntax is this: “powered.origin”. And if you’re wondering about the gravity syntax, it goes like this: “gravity.noGravity” for no gravity and “gravity.yesGravity” for turning on gravity.

About the part where the player has no mass, I simply removed the mass because the player would make the obstacles move, which is something I do not want. Also one more thing about the player, he has a name, and he is a guy. His name is Om, pronounced “Oum”, like you would pronounce “Omen” in a really British accent, or something. Om is also the main character of a 2D game which will enter development soon, also made by me. The game is called BLOB 2D for now, since it’s 2D and the second game in the “Blob” series. Which essentially just means that there is lore in the game.

So, about the second part of the Powered Up update, that will of course enter development alongside BLOB 2D, so that means that there will be some time before the next update. Still, it won’t take as much time as the last one, since the power ups are already made in the game because of the commands. Also, in the next update, I want to add a three life system, and a true reason to not hit the obstacles, and who knows, not getting hit can probably lead you to somewhere secret.

One more thing, before we end the devlog, or two more things actually, firstly, I have a YouTube channel where I make videos playing games. As for the other thing, I have started a group alongside some friends for content creators. Basically, we plan to create stuff like games, art, music, 3D models and all that good stuff. Also my YouTube channel will also be part of this group, because I am actually one of the owners of said group. If you have any questions about the game, the group, my channel or something related to me, you can just ask.

Goodbye, for now, and I’ll see you in the next devlog, or perhaps the YouTube channel.
